I HATE MENOPAUSE

Many women say "I Hate Menopause". Such strong words.

Experiences in symptoms and intensity, from hot flashes to emotional distress vary between women you will not understand until you get there yourself.

You were screaming in silence while you’re are lying in your bed, perhaps browsing your facebook and instagram account. Then you suddenly remember you have to get your bag in the living room and your favourite brown blouse hanging by the storage room next to your bedroom.

You get up, left your mobile phone on the bedside table and then walk ahead. You arrived in the living room and said to yourself, “Is there something I should be getting here? Why am I here by the way? I really have something I need here… hhmmmm uggghh!”

Frustratingly, you went back to your room with hopes of remembering why you went to the living room and to get what you need as you walk briskly.

You sit back on your bed. For 1 minute, you think deeply. Ahah! My bag! Then you rushed towards the living room, afraid you might forget it again!

You get your bag and then went back to your room and just right after sitting down, you remembered your favourite brown blouse! “Ugh, I hate menopause! Really!”, you say again as you walked towards the storage room. And then you forgot where did you exactly hang it. And a thought comes to mind. You have already put it inside your cabinet! Uh oh… “Could this get any worse? I hate menopause!”, you say angrily now. And you went back to your room in a not-so-good mood anymore.

I Hate Menopause - How It Can Play Women's Daily Routine

Day-time Routine

"Is it my hormones playing up again?
Aaahhh... I hate menopause for making me very sensitive and irritable.
It feels like I'm not the same person anymore!"

You wake up at 6:30 in the morning because you need to go to work. “Did I really had a good night’s sleep? Why am I feeling restless and sleepy at the same time?” Feeling dazed, you suddenly put your hand to your head, pressing your temple, you say, “I hate menopause.” However you have to prepare yourself and get ready to go to work and get on with your daily activities. You have to get through the day. You have to push yourself to get things done and just thinking about your whole day activities make you stressed already.

At work, someone forgot to throw into the garbage bin their empty paper cups of coffee. They just left them on the table inside the pantry, you get irritated, “how can they be so insensitive and inconsiderate?”. Your mood now gets affected and everything you observe seems wrong and you are now easily irritated. Then you ask yourself, “Is it my hormones playing up again? Aahhh….. I hate menopause for making me very sensitive and irritable. It feels like I’m not the same person anymore!”

In the afternoon, you suddenly feel very light and happy. It seems to be getting okay. However, at 3 o’clock, you suddenly feel the urge to go to the bathroom and pee. You feel it so suddenly that you aren’t able to hold it anymore. The distance to the bathroom seems rather so long when it was just fine some years ago. Urinary incontinence is also one of the many symptoms of menopause. At the back of your head you heard yourself say, “Yes, I know that. Ugh. I hate menopause!”

After a day’s work, you are now preparing to go home. You suddenly felt back pain as you are about to grab your bag. Then you remembered you have already felt this last week and the pain lingered on for several days. Other times you felt pain on the joints of your feet and elbow. “Must be arthritis? Or must be because of menopause that I have arthritis? I hate menopause!”

Night-time Routine

"These night sweats and hot flashes never seem to end.
I hate menopause"

Then you are already done with your delicious dinner. You brush your teeth and then you took a bath because you felt sticky and full of sweat. You suddenly feel that your head is heavy and everything seems to turn around. “Oh no I remembered, last week my doctor said I had high blood pressure and that he advised me to regularly check my blood pressure. Yes, I know hypertension is one of the many complications of menopause. Surely now, I hate menopause!”

Then you feel really sleepy, you want to lie down as soon as possible. Now you are comfortably lying in bed, trying to sleep. 30 minutes have passed and you are still awake. 30 minutes more, you still cannot put yourself to sleep. “Here I go again. I hate menopause!”, you say to yourself again.

After 30 minutes, you were able to sleep yet at the slightest noise you wake up. Oh my that was only 35 minutes of sleep! And you woke up covered with sweats! “Ughh! These night sweats and hot flashes never seem to end. I hate menopause!” Then you change your shirt into something really comfortable and light, cotton fabric will be the best choice, hoping these night sweats and hot flashes will not return. After almost an hour, you are still wide awake. Now insomnia strikes in. And at last, you were able to sleep… At 3:35am.
